Small Business Saturday: Creating in the Community

“Small businesses are the heart and soul of our communities.”

Join the Absolutely Anything Essential Gift Shop located at 3521 S. King Drive as we host Bronzeville’s Small Business Saturday: Creating in the Community shopping and craft fair Saturday November 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  This shopping in the community initiative is great for the entire family, diverse shoppers, shop local supporters who seek all in one shopping experiences and for those who sequentially give love and support to communities where they reside.

Following the 1 year anniversary, this retail incubator gift shop for the second year has been crowned a neighborhood champion through American Express for its commitment in the nationwide publicized initiative through Shop Small Business, which celebrates small businesses & the commitment to communities on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

What is the Absolutely Anything Essential Gift Shop?  The Absolutely Anything Essential Gift Shop in Bronzeville is located along King Drive, near 35th and neighbors Yassa’s Senegalese Restaurant. Nestled two blocks north of Mariano’s, this eclectic incubator retail space is owned by high School educator, Kenya Renee who also offers workshop space to over 20 vendors under one roof including artists, handmade artisans, designers, authors, vendors and small business owners seeking space to sell their works as well as teach others their crafts.  For tourist and locals alike, the gift shop is just a short 5-minute drive from Chicago’s McCormick Place and within three minutes of major expressways. On any visit to the intimate location, you can find home décor & fragrance items, jewelry, artwork, gourmet treats, books, bath, hair and body essentials, cards, art supplies, purses, paintings, and apparel. The gift shop also offers painting, bath & body product and jewelry making classes as well as entrepreneurship workshops facilitated by in-house vendors and community partners.

“We want our fellow neighbors of Bronzeville, Douglas, The Gap Community, Kenwood, South Loop and Hyde Park to know that you don't have to drive longer than 10 minutes to enjoy great shopping and one of a kind finds”. This year the gift shop is collaborating with neighboring businesses, small business experts, entrepreneurs and influencers to create community building avenues which assist small business owners with attracting more customers and increase awareness.
